On August 27th, 2026 Ripple Prime opened a Delta One desk — the Wall Street machinery that lets a fund collect the total return on Apple stock or the S&P 500 without ever owning a share, paying a financing charge to the counterparty instead. Ripple is the counterparty. It got there by buying the prime broker Hidden Road for $1.25 billion in April 2025, closing in October 2025 and rebranding it Ripple Prime: a UK firm founded in 2019 clearing roughly $3 trillion a year for more than 300 institutional customers, and the fifth major Ripple acquisition in two years alongside Metaco, Standard Custody, Rail and GTreasury. Since the close the platform’s business has tripled, client collateral has doubled, and average daily transactions have passed 60 million. But read the Delta One launch announcement and XRP is named exactly once — and this video is about what that single mention actually says. XRP’s role inside Ripple Prime is collateral: a client pledges the token and borrows against it rather than selling, while RLUSD does the denominating, with supply on the XRP Ledger reaching $1,024,222,594 by August 28th, 82% of every stablecoin on the ledger. Pledged coins are not sold and do not return to the market for the life of the loan. Meanwhile 7 spot XRP ETFs hold about $1.44 billion, roughly 773 million tokens — that is where price-driven institutional demand actually lands. Two channels, two jobs. Which means the number to watch was never payment volume; it is how much XRP is sitting pledged in collateral accounts. One word in the comments: collateral, or payments.
