Standard Chartered just launched institutional custody for RLUSD on the XRPL through its regulated Dubai branch, and they’re working with Ripple and LMAX Group so institutions can use RLUSD as trading collateral without moving it off the bank’s books—that part still needs final testing and approvals. At the same time the XRPL crossed 13.4 million AI-powered payments through the x402 protocol across 166 merchants, now roughly 25% of all ledger activity, with agents automatically paying for data, APIs and compute in XRP and RLUSD. Evernorth started trading on Nasdaq today as XRPN with a 473 million XRP treasury and about $300 million in cash; former Coinbase Asset Management co-CIO Hugo Jeandesboz is now steering the strategy through lending and liquidity provision. The XRPL also disclosed and patched a long-standing overflow bug that could have inflated the supply in theory, though there’s no evidence it was ever used. Caroline Pham says the CFTC can already regulate crypto under existing laws without waiting for the CLARITY Act.
