Sweden’s central bank has officially announced that it is testing an e-krona. (Source)
The testing will run until February 2021 and will use blockchain technology.
They also stated, “If the e-krona eventually comes into circulation it will be used to simulate everyday banking activities, such as payments, deposits and withdrawals from a digital wallet such as a mobile phone app”.
Considering that Ripple is working with 40-50 central banks, perhaps the Swedish central bank may be one of them. The question must also be asked whether not they are using a pre-existing blockchain and or creating their own.
