As announced previously, CRO Mainnet will be launching as Crypto.org Chain on 25 March 2021. In this release, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight important updates on our Croeseid testnet, mainnet dry-run Crossfire, and desktop wallet.
Crypto.org Chain Mainnet – 25 March
We are excited to share that the Crypto.org Chain Mainnet is scheduled to go live on 25 March 2021. Staking rewards on the Mainnet will be set at ~20% p.a. for active participants of the network.
For those who are interested to join as initial validators in the Mainnet in the coming weeks, more information will soon be made available. Please also join us on Discord or reach out to us at chain@crypto.org.
In the meantime, we recommend that you get prepared by joining our Croeseid Testnet. On the 1st of March, we performed one of our final and important upgrades and the details are given below.
Crypto.org Chain Croeseid Testnet Network Upgrade
Prior to the upgrades, the network mainly runs on the Croeseid Testnet v0.8.1 which is based on Cosmos SDK 0.40.1 and Tendermint 0.34.3. With the release of the Cosmos SDK version 0.41.0, we have upgraded to Croeseid Testnet v0.9.1 which is an important update to the network. Main updates to this latest version include:
- Patched security vulnerability and memory leak issue (details below)
- Source code changes made corresponding to the switching from Crypto.com to Crypto.org
- Updated Tendermint version: v0.34.4
- Cosmovisor compatible issue has been fixed (released binary is now placed in a bin)
Additionally, two security vulnerabilities in Tendermint were discovered by the Crypto.org Chain team and were reported to the Tendermint Core team. The Crypto.org Chain team also assisted in identifying the causes as well as conducting the solution testing for the following issues in January 2021:
· Denial of Service vulnerabilities in Tendermint Core
The issues may allow validators to verify and propose evidence when the blocks are yet to be committed. These security vulnerabilities were addressed by solutions incorporated in the release of v0.34.2 and v0.34.3 of Tendermint Core
· Increased RAM usage at the stress-testing periods
This issue was reported by Crossfire participants, and the Crypto.org Chain team assisted the Tendermint Core team in investigating the root cause of this issue. It was fixed and the solution was incorporated in the release of v0.34.4
We have successfully upgraded the network on 1 March 2021. Validators are recommended to participate in our upgraded Croeseid Testnet for early access to selected Chain features and be prepared to become validators on Mainnet. Crossfire, the Mainnet Dry-Run Update
Crossfire, the Mainnet Dry-Run, ended on 15 February. We would like to thank our participants, partners, and all community members for their support. The Crossfire Mainnet Dry-Run blockchain has successfully processed in excess of 275 million transactions during the event (read more about this event here).

Desktop Wallet Beta Release
We have recently open-sourced and released the first beta version of Crypto.org Chain Desktop Wallet. The desktop wallet supports sending and staking operations on Croeseid Testnet.
It is now available on Mac OS, Ubuntu, and Windows. For details, please refer to our release page.

Block Explorer Improvements
The account details function in the block explorer has now been added to support the latest Croeseid Testnet, and this feature allows users to directly access different details related to transactions on any wallet address and improves the transparency on a block.
You can now search by block, transaction, or validator address! If you plan to search a specific validator’s activity, as soon as any piece of this information is inputted in the search bar, the summary and activities of the validator including token amount, address, commission rate as well as history will appear.
