Leadership Changes at Zilliqa and Plans for 2022

Dear Zilliqans,

On behalf of the entire Zilliqa team, I am saddened to inform you that Amrit Kumar will be stepping down from roles as President and Chief Scientific Officer at Zilliqa in coming months. With deep gratitude for all that Amrit has built and everyone he has mentored and inspired, let us all thank him for his contributions over the past four years.

It’s no secret that Amrit has helped build up the protocol from the very early days. Beyond his technical brilliance, to many community members he was a key representative of Zilliqa, personally interacting with many of you on your feedback, listening patiently to your ideas, and helping you #BuildOnZIL. We wish him nothing but the very best in his upcoming journey.

Our world-class experts are already taking measures to ensure that Amrit’s transition from these roles is as seamless as our protocol. Amrit is working with us all to ensure that his departure will not slow down all the incredible work in the pipeline. As we look at our 2022 tech and commercial plans, Zilliqa is in good stead, and well on its way to becoming a top-10 protocol.

Let’s take a closer look:

Technology Parity: Before the end of Q1, you’ll be seeing a new roadmap discussing strategies for our protocol-level advancement including EVM, a faster runtime for Scilla as well other enhancements. By placing continued emphasis on enriching interoperability, we will always look to incentivise and onboard the world’s topmost projects onto Zilliqa.

New Hires:We’ve been planning our team expansion behind-the-scenes, and have over 10 new joiners who will be introduced to you in the coming weeks and months. These hires will help us run at full steam to consolidate our position as the first layer-1 to build multiple commercial avenues of Web3 including (but not limited to) — our extended-reality Metaverse, partnerships with key esports and gaming entities — and making a borderless creator economy for artists and influencers. Over the course of the year, we plan to professionalise and streamline the organisation and welcome over 100 employees.

Global Visibility: In Q2, we will be hosting an exclusive, landmark event in Miami targeted to brands, artists, creators, and investors. This is part of our expansion strategy and our goal of revolutionising the creator economy. You’ll also see our representatives across global events from New York, LA, Dubai, Paris, London, and more.

Bold Investment Channels: Our ecosystem arm ZILHive, and sister company Zilliqa Capital continue to aggressively scout for and invest in game-changing DeFi projects. The community-driven DAO Ignite will also play a crucial role in developing promising projects in Q2 and beyond. DeFi will underpin these investments, bringing in massive TVL to our protocol.

Collaborations: Announcements related to more gaming and esports partnerships are coming your way! We’re also tying up with galleries, artists and curators from around the world to ensure our Rialto-based NFTs are of top quality — credible and valuable to users. All this and more in the works — you need to dare to imagine!

Change is never easy but it is definitely necessary as we grow in scale and vision. We’re embracing it wholeheartedly. We’re ready for the greatness that Zilliqa 2.0 will unleash. Are you?
